Because it provides a narrative and power over others. This event is a display of that power in use, and I would not be surprised if Target financially supports some group on the left because of this attack. What is in question is a black child in a Halloween costume display that covers most of his body, with only his “black face” showing. I guess black children should be stopped from dressing up for Halloween. What if Target actually put a black child in this costume because they wanted representation of blacks in advertising? I guess that didn’t work for Target, so back to using a white kid.
This advertisement should be nothing but an advertisement, but someone sitting in a room decides to call it racist, and suddenly it is and makes headlines. Just as intended. This is promotion of racism: saying a black person cannot be used in an advertisement if only his face is visible? What about black superheroes who wear costumes? So, by fighting this non-issue, they're actually making it an issue on purpose, making normalization a dream.
When do we move away from the past, recognizing the dramatic changes in people's lives across the U.S.? Basically, we have, except for the inner cities run by Democrats, where they keep people on the plantation rather than raise them up. Money is the answer to everything when what is needed is quality education and surroundings. Stopping fraud will provide the money needed, but too many are getting rich off the poor. The Democrats own this, all of it and are a disgrace to the people they serve, using hate and racism as weapons while the people suffer.
How many times now have we allowed protestors in the streets to destroy the communities they live in with outside support, of course? The racism narrative sells, and businesses fear the label to the point they cave to the left and contribute to causes so as not to be called out on a BS narrative. Some of these protests were based on a racist narrative that was not the issue, but they made it one to start the protests.
So, what do others watching the media think as they watch looting, destruction and death while the Democrats remain silent, as if this was a cause worth fighting? Businesses leave, and those who live in the community now have to travel to shop for groceries and other things. No one on the left talks about the aftermath of what they supported. But they are quick to offer money to rebuild. Why not prevent the destruction? Because it might offend someone on the left.
Racism is an issue and is not to be downplayed, and we need to continue the fight, but if everything is racism, then people ignore it, just like the boy who cried wolf. This is a disservice to the cause of equality. This tactic is what Jesse Jackson uses to blackmail businesses for money, yet no one discusses this. Let me end this with RACISM IS BAD. All IMO.
“Target has pulled a costume off its site and has now apologized after critics claimed resembled a children’s Halloween costume resembled blackface from the 19th century.
The item, listed under the retailer’s seasonal Hyde and EEK Boutique line had been marketed as the “Kids’ Glows Under Blacklight Circus Clown Halloween Costume.” However, after the backlash, Target pulled the item and said that it was not appropriate.
Target said in a statement: “We pulled an offensive Halloween costume that should never have been part of our assortment. It is no longer for sale. As a company, we got this wrong, and we are deeply sorry. We know this is especially hurtful for our Black guests, team members and partners.”
