These negotiations are delicate, and we still don’t know who is really driving the bus in Iran. The IRGC pokes its head out every once in a while with a threat or a lie as if it is in control. So, who is really in control? Who knows, but it seems the politicians of Iran do not want what the IRGC does, and that is a major issue.
Until the military forces of Iran accept the change in direction away from extremism, there will be no peace. These folks are ready to die for Allah, and that makes negotiations difficult because common sense is overridden by the religious ideology of Islam.
The real solution will be when the people of Iran, who are Persians and don’t follow Islam, stand up to the extremists. But, with no weapons, these folks are hiding in their houses so they don’t get shot. This is a mess, a real mess, but one that needs to be cleaned up for the world. If Iran had a nuke, the world would change, and it would not be for the better. I know we did not have a goal of regime change, but I’m having second thoughts; this regime is the devil and needs to be eliminated. All IMO.
