Welcome back! This is Charley from Common Sense News, with a new piece on the history of transgender people, which surprisingly goes back in time, way back in time, as you will see. So, what will this article cover? Primarily, we will discuss the history of gender ideology, including insights into the recent trend of transgender surgeries that is still going on in our country. While it is acceptable for adults to make choices about their own bodies—whether through surgeries, piercings, tattoos, or other means—we must draw a clear line: these choices should not extend to children.
In this video, I will delve into the origins of the gender ideology movement, which unexpectedly has roots that go back much further than I initially thought. I believe you will find this video informative, as I will share facts rarely covered in today’s media.
Let’s get started! The first surprising fact I discovered dates back to around 3000 BCE, when the concept of gender as we understand it today did not exist. At that time, there is evidence that some individuals deviated from societal norms. Inanna, the love goddess of that era, had a temple that served as a safe space, which is the same thing as today. The gala were ritual specialists and priests who served the goddess Inanna (later known as Ishtar) in ancient Mesopotamia (roughly 3000–2000 BCE).
Next, we move into the Greco-Roman period, where priests of Cybele dressed as women and practiced self-castration and same-sex relations, which contrasted sharply with the standards of that time. Ironically, such practices seem to mirror aspects of today’s norms.
During my research, I discovered how little I knew about the history of gender, and I’m grateful to have learned more about this movement's history. I always blamed the progressives for this practice, but I guess LGBTQ has been around a long time. However, the progressives have rejuvenated this ideology on steroids, and that is a problem.
In South Asia, Hindus acknowledged a third gender known as Hijras, and Indigenous peoples in the Americas recognized two-spirit roles, which align closely with progressive ideology, minus, of course, the topic of child mutilation.
There’s another historical figure worth mentioning: a French male diplomat from the late 1700s to early 1800s who lived publicly as a woman with royal approval. This information indicates that men have long sought to embody femininity, whereas the reverse—the desire for women to adopt male roles—seems to have emerged later. That is my opinion.
As we continue through history, the late 1900s saw the rise of sexology as a field of study, with the medical community beginning to classify gender as a variance rather than a norm. A German physician even opened an institute for gender-affirming surgeries, but the institute was destroyed by the Nazis in 1933. This period of history intrigues me, and I want to learn more about the science available in the early 1900s, especially since they lacked the medical advancements we have today in terms of drugs and medical equipment.
In 1952, Christine Jorgensen became the first American to undergo a sex change, marking another key moment in this ongoing narrative. Seems transgender was a thing long before I assumed, but the surgery attempts were not mainstream until the here and now, thanks to the Democrats.
Now, for the rest of the story, with what happened in the 20th and 21st centuries, when gender ideology rapidly evolved mostly because of the progressives who believe anything goes when it comes to gender. Identity-based gender activism hit the forefront, and the term “transgender” gained mainstream recognition.
Progressive lawyers began the process of legally separating sex from gender in various legal documents, effectively sidelining the concept of sex. Along with this shift, many new gender identities emerged, leading to confusion as many still conflate gender with sex—when, in fact, they are distinct concepts.
As with many progressive issues, California has taken the lead on gender matters, giving the impression that this entire ideology is acceptable. Consequently, our country has taken a significant turn, pushing these ideologies onto our children in K-12 education, promoting harmful practices that include child mutilation. Previously, children were not aware of gender, although many played gendered roles; one common past example was the tomboy. A girl who wanted to play in the boys’ world. Most of these girls evolved into women, while some took the LGBTQ route, which is not a problem because it was an adult decision. But progressives could not refrain from intervening and normalizing all genders and presenting the ideology to our kids. Of course, the medical community, with dollars in their eyes, jumped on board, agreeing that a solution was child mutilation. Gender dysphoria is a known illness, defined by our medical community, so it is not the norm. Why do we allow our schools to push this on kids? Where are the teachers with common sense?
There is no proven science that the potential suicide of a child is a good reason for child mutilation, which raises the question of how we allowed this medical procedure to be used. Suicidal thoughts that exist before the surgery, more often than not, exist after the surgery.
Europe has rejected the suicide claims and the witchcraft science that American doctors continue to support. Why? It’s all about the money for our doctors.
Other findings showed that surgery as a cure doesn’t make sense. Even if a person undergoes surgery, the old body still exists; it is simply in a different form. All they had to do was dress the part, but that was not good enough, so surgery with no return is the option pushed by educators, psychologists, and doctors. I find that rather sad and expect many issues in the next couple of decades, as many will find out it was not what they wanted. I didn’t say all, I said many.
Next, I will address Evidence versus Policy, as they are interrelated and central to this discussion. When policy overrides evidence, there are consequences, and in this case, it is the destruction of lives in one way or another.
Science is grounded in evidence, with research, trials, and studies used to test and evaluate hypotheses. That should also include gender science, but it wasn’t because ideology overrode science. Along with media support for this trend, it gained traction under the Democrats, who are still pushing the ideology on our kids, which I find rather sad.
As we all know, there are various scientific methods, and you would think the medical community would use the most rigorous science to prove that people needed surgery to change their sex under the guise of gender dysphoria. It is important to remember that gender and sex are two different things. You can be whatever gender you want, but you can’t change your sex, so why are we going down this road? Maybe it is okay for adults to mutilate their bodies, but not kids, and that is where this science went, to our schools with false information to confuse kids and their parents.
Policy is a key factor in all of this, and the bottom line is that evidence is not the primary concern. It is all about ideology, power and votes. That is a sad point, and it explains why our kids are being mutilated because there is a significant voter bloc on LGBTQ issues that supports all efforts to normalize what is not normal. And of course, the progressives are their party of choice because they cater to the group.
Eventually, Europe, of all places, comes to its senses and realizes that science needs much more research. There is no long-term evidence, and suicide is not a proven symptom. So Europe restricts surgeries until more proof becomes available.
So, what about the U.S.? We expand access to our kids in K-12. What does this mean? That is easy. In the U.S., we are using our kids as guinea pigs for the world. Our kids are test subjects with no return to normalcy, all because of money. The U.S. leads the world in expenditures for trans surgeries. Money speaks, and woke policies enable this.
Suicide is the reason for the push for surgery in the U.S., but the evidence is not yet available, yet we hear crickets. The time is coming when many who received surgeries will find out it was for nothing, but there is no return to normalcy. Lawsuits are already appearing in the news for kids’ lives destroyed.
When it comes to policy on this subject, Europe is the leader, and we are the anomaly. In the U.S., it is all about the money for the medical community, over the lives of our kids. The insanity will end at some point, but until it does, we need to protect our kids and be accountable as parents.
One last thing that occurred while I was putting this piece together is the rejection of transgender surgeries on our kids from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Hallelujah. Someone woke up and at least recommends no surgeries on kids. I guess late is better than never, but we need to review how we got here, and how our medical community thought it was good to do child mutilation. Someone needs to pay for the lives destroyed.

I learned one major thing: genders beyond the physical sex of individuals have been around forever, and there is nothing wrong with choice. But two things – don’t mess with our kids, and don’t assume a man can be a woman and play on a women’s sports team. Otherwise, I’m all in on folks dressing as they want, whether it be a woman, a man, or something else. Adults can do what they want with their bodies but stay away from our kids, the future of this great country.
