How dumb can the owners of this league be? The fix is simple, yet there is no effort to protect the league from men thinking they are women.
The reason this issue continues is that this league is made up primarily of LGBTQ+ supporters, many fitting one category or the other within the group. This group is not willing to define a woman because it would eliminate the T that they support.
Support is fine, but failing to define a woman is not; why is that? One, there may be a trans person in the league now, or there are plans to allow trans people to join in the future. And maybe this is just a firm stand for what they believe in, which 80% or more of people in this country reject.
Now for the clincher: the NBA, which funds part of this league to the tune of ~$ 50M dollars. But there are basically crickets from the men. What a joke of spineless men afraid to stand up, but then the last time someone did it was against Enes Kanter Freedom, and they blackballed him for his opinion. Enes also talked about LeBron, which didn’t help his situation. I stopped watching the NBA once they went woke. All IMO.
“According to Front Office Sports, a WNBA source confirmed on Monday, neither player is eligible to compete in the league. The two had claimed they identify as women and wanted to play in the Women’s National Basketball Association.
The source characterized the declarations as “simply publicity stunts,” emphasizing that the organization will not participate in actions intended to demean the league and its athletes.
“The league is not going to give oxygen to efforts designed to mock the league or use this topic to demean and marginalize others,” the league source told Front Office Sports. The source added that the WNBA currently has no legitimate eligibility matters requiring official action and will not allow “outside pressure or manufactured controversy to dictate league processes.”
Under Article XIII of the new collective bargaining agreement, “only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA.” The agreement does not outline additional language regarding gender identity or gender assigned at birth.”
