Mamdani is clueless about the economics of what he is proposing and trying to implement, but already people are leaving. His new tax is outrageous; these people already paid tax, and this is considered a special second tax for those who own a second home. On top of this attack on the rich, he is hiring 24 people to manage this program. You have to be kidding me.
I can’t believe a Mayor has this amount of power to tax on demand, and it doesn’t seem right. Can a Mayor tax anything? I’m not sure. But here we go with a tax on the so-called rich, but Mamdani screwed up big time by making and publicly publishing names. I guess Mamdani doesn’t care about privacy.
If this were a Republican, you would see front-page outrage, but not with our current media. I see lawsuits coming from all sides on this tax proposal and anything else outrageous this guy does. He has a golden tongue and tapdances about his intentions, but most of us know where he is headed, and we need to make sure he is the first and last socialist Mayor of New York City. All IMO.
“Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman vowed to undo Gov. Kathy Hochul’s “oppressive” and “reckless” pied-à-terre tax if elected – as it was revealed the Big Apple plans to hire dozens of employees just to process the new fee.
Blakeman, who’s currently serving as the elected Nassau County executive, issued a dire warning Thursday saying state Democratic Party policies will drive more New Yorkers out of the city, which already carries a 12.5% local tax burden, the third highest in the country.
“This reckless tax will drive even more families, jobs, and investment out of our state, and middle-class New Yorkers will pay the price,” Blakeman said. “I will move to eliminate it on day one when I am elected governor.”
