While China has somewhat tried to go green, it has nothing to do with saving the world but with preserving its power in the world. China needs oil, lots of oil, and Iran is the source for cheap oil, but not going forward.
So why is this important? Because if China decides to go after Taiwan, all the U.S. has to do is what it is doing now: block all oil coming from Iran. Until now, that was not possible because of Iran’s weapons capability. But now Iran only has a ragtag army of Jihadists hanging on to maintain power. Thanks to Trump and Israel, the Iran threat has been significantly degraded, if not completely destroyed. And that is a good thing for the world. All IMO.
“Fetterman said that after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, there was “that pivot, we remind the world that we run it, we control it, and that forced China to get involved and to push Iran to just acknowledge, that’s checkmate, at this point.”
He continued, “Now, we have the opportunity, any time, and now we’ve discovered that the scream point for the Chinese is, now, we can block their oil coming from Iran at that point, and now, that’s significant leverage in the future should China [charge] after Taiwan. Now, that’s a leverage point to, well, if you do that, we can perhaps shut down their oil from Iran now, too. So, where we are now, I think it’s been a positive development.”
